Restylane is a crystal clear gel based on a natural substance called hyaluronic acid. It is a non-animal product eliminating the need for skin testing associated with collagen. Restylane is administered in tiny amounts through a very fine gauge needle, producing long lasting, natural results. Common areas of treatment are wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth as well as lip enhancement. Restylane treatment typically last six to twelve months.
Restylane can be used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Restylane can also be used in other moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as lipstick lines (perioral rhytides), the area just below the nose and above the upper lip, the corners of the mouth (oral commissures); and marionette lines that extend downward from the corner of the mouth to the jawline. This is injected during a short office visit. A topical anesthetic is applied to avoid pain during the injection. Patients can return to normal activities shortly after the injection.
